[PRESS RELEASE] — Ho Chi Minh City International Film Festival (HIFF) Makes Grand Debut at Vietnam Night in Busan and ACFM
Busan, South Korea – October 9, 2023 — Following a successful domestic launch in Vietnam, the Ho Chi Minh City International Film Festival (HIFF) is set to make a significant mark on the global film stage as it prepares to be unveiled during Vietnam Night, an exclusive event at the Busan International Film Festival, on October 9, 2023. This landmark occasion is the result of a remarkable collaboration between HIFF and BHD.
One of the most distinguished and celebrated figures in the international film community, Mr. Kim Dong-ho, Founder and Former Chairman of the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), will grace Vietnam Night with his presence. Notably, Mr. Kim Dong-ho has accepted the invitation to become the Honorary Chairman of HIFF, adding a prestigious touch to this auspicious occasion.
Vietnam Night will also be attended by other influential figures from the Busan International Film Festival, including Nam Dong-chul, Program Director of BIFF, and other esteemed programmers from BIFF. These esteemed individuals have been instrumental in shaping the landscape of the international film community, and their presence further underscores the significance of HIFF’s global introduction.
From the HIFF side, a full team of government officers from key departments, including the HCMC Department of Culture & Sports, Department of Foreign Affairs, HCM Contemporary Performing Arts Center, HCMC Cinema Association, and the Board of Directors of VIETFEST, will be in attendance. Their support and collaboration have been invaluable in bringing HIFF to this momentous juncture.
During Vietnam Night, HIFF will provide an exclusive sneak peek into its inaugural edition scheduled for April 2024. This preview will be coupled with the official announcement of Mr. Kimm Dong-ho as the honorary Chairman of HIFF, a position that carries immense honor and responsibility within the festival.
In addition to the Vietnam Night event, from October 7th to 10th, HIFF will showcase its presence at the exhibition booth alongside BHD, stationed at booth number C14 within Bexco Center 1. Here, HIFF will engage in promotional activities for the festival and actively participate in networking events within the Asia Content and Film Market of BIFF, fostering collaborations and connections within the international film industry.
