HIFF 2025 Postponed – See you at HIFF 2026!

To Our Esteemed Domestic and International Partners and Filmmakers,

First and foremost, the Organizing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City International Film Festival (HIFF) extends our heartfelt gratitude to all partners and filmmakers for your unwavering support and companionship throughout this journey. Your presence and contributions during the inaugural HIFF have been an incredible source of motivation, helping us take the first steps toward establishing HIFF as a prestigious cinematic event and a vital bridge connecting Vietnamese cinema to the global film industry.

The year 2025 holds a series of monumental and historically significant events for Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam, including the 95th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (03/02/1930 – 03/02/2025); the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and National Reunification (30/04/1975 – 30/04/2025); the 135th Birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (19/05/1890 – 19/05/2025); and the 80th National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (02/09/1945 – 02/09/2025). Additionally, the city will co-host the 24th Vietnam Film Festival in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. These events are of profound historical importance, marking pivotal milestones in Vietnam’s journey of development and integration into the global community. Ho Chi Minh City is honored to be the host of several significant political and cultural events of national importance. Given the role, scale and importance of these events, the city needs to focus all its efforts on organizing activities to ensure the set goals and requirements are met. Therefore, after thorough deliberation, the HIFF Organizing Committee regretfully announces that the Ho Chi Minh City International Film Festival (HIFF) will not take place in 2025. HIFF will return in 2026 with enhanced programs and activities, offering an even better experience for filmmakers, partners, and audiences alike. Specific dates and details regarding HIFF 2026 will be announced promptly through our official communication channels.

As this was our first attempt at organizing an international film festival, we acknowledge that there may have been shortcomings. We deeply appreciate your understanding and continued support. The HIFF Organizing Committee is committed to making every effort to develop HIFF into a prestigious brand, contributing effectively to establishing Ho Chi Minh City as one of the region’s leading creative hubs while playing a vital role in promoting Vietnamese culture and art to the world.
